Born a slave, Joseph Bologne – the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, was a prolific 18th century composer, master fencer and violin virtuoso whose name has long been neglected in the Western classical music tradition. Based on Chevalier’s life this film charts his rise to heights in French Society as a composer before an ill-fated love affair.
