Puccini Crisantemi

Beethoven String Quartet in A minor No.15 Op.132

Puccini, the musical hero of Italian verismo, wrote Crisantemi in memory of the Duke Amedeo of Aosta and later used it in his opera Manon. It is a brief and evocative piece in stark contrast to Beethoven’s titanic Op. 132. The monumental ‘molto adagio’ of this work is often described as one of the most supreme musical utterances ever. It’s followed by a ‘march’ and ‘recitatives’ reminiscent of his 9th Symphony. The Neruda Quartet are Tillett Trust Debut artists and were chosen to represent the Royal Academy of Music in the first International Chamber Music Symposium in China.

Tea or coffee, and cake are included in your ticket price, served from 10.30am.
