Beethoven Piano Sonata in E minor No.27 Op.90

Chopin Polonaise-Fantasie Op.61

Schumann Fantasie in C Op.17

“A contest between the heart and the head” was a description of the first movement of this middle period, Beethoven Sonata and there is a definite love story behind Schumann’s Fantasie in C, which was inspired by Clara Wieck, his wife to be, as well as his deep admiration for Beethoven. When Clara first saw the piece she wrote “yesterday I received your wonderful fantasy — today I am still half ill with rapture.” Chopin is also in rhapsodic, rather than nationalistic mode in his Polonaise-Fantasie. Jamie Cochrane is a Tillett Trust Debut Artist who has performed in the Royal Albert Hall and the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, as well as internationally.

Tea or coffee, and cake are included in your ticket price, served from 10.30am.
