Schubert Sonata in A, D. 959
Chopin Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise
Rose McLachlan Piano
Of Schubert's last piano sonatas Robert Schumann wrote "the music ripples along songfully from page to page." It is an apt description of this late luxuriant sonata. The gentle Andante Spianato of Chopin contrasts sharply with nationalistic fervour of the Grand Polonaise. Rose McLachlan is establishing herself as an accomplished soloist with recent appearances at Bridgewater Hall and with the BBC Concert and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras.
