The Festival is delighted to be working in partnership with the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (SCVA) in 2015. In addition to curating this year’s exhibition “ John Hedgecoe: Face of the Artist” the SCVA is offering our supporters an exclusive evening trip to their latest ground-breaking exhibition Francis Bacon and the Masters.
Friday 12 June 2015.
Tickets £20 per person
including coach travel, talk by SCVA Director
and free glass of wine.
Meet at Tuesday Market Place, King’s Lynn at 5.30pm returning around 10pm
The visit includes a coach from King’s Lynn, a glass of wine on arrival, a talk by Professor Paul Greenhalgh, Director of SCVA and a chance to look round the latest SCVA exhibitions.
Francis Bacon and the Masters explores Bacon's obsession with the art of the past and brings together over 25 major works by Francis Bacon with old and modern masters including Velázquez, Rembrandt, Titian, Michelangelo, Rodin, Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse.
The exhibition forms the culmination of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg and will coincide with the UK/Russia Year of Culture in the UK. Masterpieces on loan from the Hermitage include many works which have never before been shown in the UK. Working alongside the Sainsbury Centre and State Hermitage Museum, the exhibition is curated by Dr Thierry Morel, whose previous exhibition Houghton Revisited attracted wide international acclaim.
