Exhibition Tour by Dr Rosy Gray
Tuesday 16 April 2019
Modern and Contemporary Art from Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery
The exhibition is the second in a series of exhibitions exploring the notion of place in works from Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery’s collection of modern and contemporary art. The selection of works in the exhibition are united by their use of line, colour and form. The works are often abstract in nature; non-figurative responses to the landscape that are triggered and inspired by location. In Marjorie Wales’ Gulf of Corinth for example, the region is presented as a series of lines and shapes; an approach that unites geometry and geology. This exhibition is an opportunity to consider these relationships more broadly, including work by artists such as Patrick Heron and Mary Webb.
30-minute informal tour of the works displays with the Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at Norwich Castle.
