Lady Jane Fellowes

My earliest memories of the King's Lynn Festival are of sitting near the front of a concert given by Sir John Barbirolli and the Halle Orchestra in St. Nicholas' Chapel.  As a child an array of people had stayed in July with us at Park House, Sandringham - I collected autographs then and am now amazed to see whose I have - Osian Ellis (including a sketch of harp), Marisa Robles, Gerald Moore, Evelyn Barbirolli, and Emlyn Williams to name but a few.  Those concerts gave me the best start to a life of enjoying music, and I am eternally grateful to my Grandmother, Ruth Fermoy, for that introduction.

Over the years the Festival has adapted to necessary change but still has an unparalleled programme for King's Lynn playing a vital part in the arts and culture of North West Norfolk.

My favourite recent Festival concert was in the Guildhall - July 2013 a Sunday afternoon with an exceptional performance of the complete Beethoven Cello Sonatas with Melvyn Tan and Guy Johnston.  Truly memorable.
