Barbirolli in King's Lynn

Renowned international orchestral conductor Sir John Barbirolli came regularly to the King's Lynn Festival from 1952 until his death shortly in 1970. His concerts with the Hallé Orchestra, were considered to be Festival highlights and an anchor around which the Festivals revolved year by year.

50 years on from Barbirolli's death, David Greening of the Barbirolli Society gives an illustrated talk about the early years of the Festival and the effect that Sir John's visits had on the audiences of that time.
