A tribute to Mary Roche

The board of directors of King’s Lynn Festival have paid tribute to Mary Roche, who died recently, after many years as a loyal and active supporter of the Festival.

Mary Roche was the daughter of Ruth Lady Fermoy, an accomplished pianist who founded the festival which is now in its 73rd year. Mary Roche was a vice-president and a frequent visitor to the festival, having a deep regard for the town and area.

Lady Fermoy organised the first festival to celebrate the restoration of St George’s Guildhall in the early 1950s. Her mantra was: “Nothing but the best for King’s Lynn"
