In 1790 the London Morning Chronicle likened the 'shoal of Continental performers' who included Clementi and Haydn to lines from Shakespeare's Tempest, “The Isle is full of noises, sounds and sweet airs”. The programme includes music by Haydn and Clementi and the later London visitor, Felix Mendelssohn, composer of the famous Midsummer Night’s Dream music the scherzo from which is similar to the scherzo of the D minor Trio

The Town Hall’s chequerboard façade conceals six hundred years of history. An evocative example of Lynn’s rich heritage, the Town Hall boasts a series of majestic oak panelled rooms, decorated by elegant chandeliers.
There is parking directly opposite the Town Hall on the Saturday Market Place and behind it on Baker Lane. Please note: Charges apply 24 hours a day, including for Blue Badge holders. There is one level access from the front door to the lift and toilet for people with disabilities on the ground floor. There is an infra-red sound enhancement system for the hard of hearing, and guide dogs are admitted.
