Festival Sell-outs

Two sell-out events on one evening enabled King’s Lynn Festival-goers to enjoy the best of Scottish fiddle music and a celebration of the 250th anniversary of Telemann.

Blazin’ Fiddles returned to St George’s Guildhall on Friday to entertain a packed audience who revelled in the traditional tunes played by six musicians from the highlands and islands who gave a sparkling performance packed with energy and variety.

Another full house at All Saints’ Church featured the Passacaglia Duo – Annabel Knight playing recorders and baroque flute with Robin Bigwood, a top name among harpsichord players.

They, too, delighted their audience with a programme entitled Travels with Telemann to celebrate his life’s working making music “for the pleasure of the people”.

The programme celebrated the vibrant music scene of his day and his friendships with the Handel and Bach families and the rich cultural mix of the music they shared.

Also, the hugely popular BBC Concert Orchestra's Friday Night iSi Music Night recording was sold out - but you can hear it on Radio 2 on Friday 4th August.
