New Year Round Programme October 2017 - May 2018


Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, European Union Chamber Orchestra and author Charles Spencer feature in King’s Lynn Festival’s winter and spring programme which begins next week.

 Award-winning French pianist, Patrick Hemmerle, musician in residence at Clare Hall, Cambridge, will give a coffee concert with music by Bach, Chopin and Beethoven, at Lynn Town Hall at 11am on October 13.

On November 21 Benedict Allen will describe his dramatic return to Papua, New Guinea, with BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner as featured in a BBC2 series. The event, Adventures in Paradise, will be staged in conjunction with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).

Charles Spencer will talk on November 29 will be about his latest book, To Catch A King, about Charles II’s great escape. Earl Spencer will speak at St George’s Guildhall where his grandmother Ruth Lady Fermoy established King’s Lynn Festival in 1951.

The European Union Chamber Orchestra returns to St Nicholas’ Chapel on February 20 to present a family concert at 11am. It will also involve woodwind players from Norfolk Centre for Young Musicians featuring a new work by Anna Disley-Simpson, BBC Proms Inspire Young Composers Finalist in 2014.

The prize-winning A4 Brass Quartet will give a coffee concert at Lynn Town Hall on March 16. The quartet, based at the Royal Northern College of Music, features a unique blend of instruments – cornet, tenor horn, baritone and euphonium.

After their sell-out concert at Lynn Festival last year Ronnie Scott’s All Stars return on April 6 to explore The Great American Songbook..

The Festival is to stage a concert as part of the 2018 Hanse Festival. On May 18 at All Saints’ Church The Hanse Band will present a special performance on period instruments at 7pm.

The winter series will include four coffee concerts and two films - on November 21 and 29 - shown in partnership with Lynn Community Cinema Club.
