Making Music at St Martha's

The Badke Quartet worked with children from St Martha's Catholic Primary School, King's Lynn, ahead of their performance on Friday.  Inspired by Haydn's Quartet No.2 Opus 77, with help from community musician Jane Wells and Jessica Berners from Norfolk Music Service, here is what the children composed:

As well as this performance at the school assembly on Friday morning, the 19 children also performed on stage at the Guildhall (Arts Centre) on Friday evening, directly after the Badke Quartet's performance of the Haydn piece. Badke Violinist Charlotte began playing the violin at the age of seven, so who knows - maybe the evening will inspire some of the children to choose a music career and come back to the Festival as part of their own Quartet in future!

Concert-goers were impressed with the children's efforts on stage and off, commenting favourably on the children's behaviour when part of the audience during the 4 movements of the Haydn Quartet and the Ravel String Quartet in F major that followed.
