Festival Artist In Residence: Marcin Zdunik

One of today’s leading cellists, Polish-born Marcin Zdunik, will be artist-in-residence this year's festival, where he will play in four concerts including the final night with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Marcin, who was artist-in-residence with Warsaw Philharmonic last year, will first appear at St Nicholas’ Chapel on July 21 when he will demonstrate his technical mastery playing two Bach suites for cello.

On July 23 he will launch the popular series of morning coffee concerts at Lynn Town Hall when he will join the Aurea Quartet for a performance of what is considered Schubert’s finest chamber work – his Quintet in C.

On July 26 Marcin will return to the Town Hall to join Jâms Coleman (piano) to present the fourth coffee concert including works by Brahms, Debussy and Chopin.

There will be a chance to meet Marcin when he appears in a more relaxed setting in the Shakespeare Barn for an introduction to the cello, especially suited to anyone learning or thinking of learning the cello.
