Talk: Jago Cooper - The Lost Kingdoms of Central America
Tuesday 10 November 2015
Arising from his recent BBC series on the Lost Kingdoms of Central America, Dr Jago Cooper considers what lessons we can learn from these great civilisations of the past. How did cities rise and fall in the tropical forests of Costa Rica? Why did people willingly give up their lives for rulers in the highlands of Mexico? and what is the real secret to gaining and holding onto power in any society?
Recent research by scholars working in Central America has begun to reveal the secrets behind how these little known societies operated and how we can all learn from their fate.
Presented by Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in association with King’s Lynn Festival.
